London-based Czech painter Hynek Martinec is a multi award-winning, classically-trained painter. In this episode, he talks about his early art education in Czechoslovakia, how he felt the need to give the symbols of old master paintings a modern interpretation, his time in Paris perfecting the art of painting human hair before moving to London, how he changed from hyper-realism to monochrome works for a time, how sea creatures have been an inspiration, the appeal of unexpected combinations that form a bridge from the past, the importance of titles, his artistic influences, using AI, and the legacy of the Czech martyr, Jan Palach.
